THE LEADERS

The James Ruse ISCF group has a whole bunch of leaders, ranging across the years, eager to serve you! Most of us are students, but we're very fortunate to also have teachers, alumni and people from the Scripture Union helping us out.

Name: Jonathon Choy
Grade: 11
Interests: B'ball, judo, mountain biking, v'ball, mucking around with cars and bikes, guitar, violin, hiking.
Testimony: From when I was a little kid my parents took me to Sunday School so I was lucky in that I knew things like we as humans sin, God loves us and sent His Son Jesus to save us.
Only problem was that that's all I did - I knew and understood these facts and held them dear, but didn't really do much about them after that. I didn't let my life be changed because of what I knew.
Then in Year 7 I went on Easter camp with people from church. When I was in camp something struck me about the people in camp. I found that the people wer really nice and though most of them were a lot older than me they treated me really well. These people acted different and it caused me to think "if these guys are different because they're Christians shouldn't I too?!"
From then on through the youth group at church, through the leaders , and through God (who I can now see, looking back, changed my life for me), my life started to be changed.
From youth and stuff I started to learn more about God and His character and His Word. From this I learnt more about how I could live my life for God and i started to really understand the true meaning of the message.
I can see God worked in me and is still working in me: changing my life and urging me to life for Him more and more.
Last year I did a Christianity explained course with my minister and god confirmed at church. God's still working in my life and changing me. Praise God!

Name: Valerie Kuo
Grade: 12
Interests: Sewing soft toys, soccer, guitarist/singer in band.
Testimony: I wasn’t a drug addict before I got saved, nor was I an alcoholic or a crazy person. But this is my testimony of God’s amazing will working in my life.
I do not come from a background of Christian relatives, but my parents are open to Christianity. Since the beginning of my memory I have always believed that God existed. I was a Protestant Christian at school by default and during Scripture I coloured in workbooks and heard stories about a man called Jesus. I didn’t know much about God, but I had a basic idea of him.
- He created all things
- He is everywhere & knows all things
- He’ll listen whenever we pray to him
But he remained a distant, unrelated figure who wasn’t really interested in my life and had his own business to go about. I knew I was a sinner, but what did that mean? I did bad things, but so does everyone. So I wasn’t alone being that...
Ed's Note: Val has a really cool testimony! But it's a touch longer than might fit on this page alone. So I've put the whole story on this page for you to read. Please take the time to check it out, it's well worth your time!

Name: Eddie Woo
Grade: 11
Interests: I like to do stupid things like maintaining websites. I, ummm, make pictures with computers. Rendering. You know Star Wars, when they have ships running around... or LOTR, where they have Mount Doom... how that's all done with computers? That's what I do. Apart from that... anything. Stick something in front of me and I'll do it. Or stick nothing in front of me and I'll do nothing. ;) (I also like to take photos with my digital camera... as you can see by all the pictures around the site.)
Testimony: I'm one of those guys who's slow to speak, slow to see, slow to think... slow to do most things. And that includes slow to start; I've only really let the Holy Spirit work in my life quite recently, perhaps in the last twelve, maybe eighteen months.
Maybe I should start a little further back. Like Jono, I was really blessed to have an early introduction to Christian teaching, and so right from the start I had the right stuff in my head. But I didn't have it in my heart yet. It might have been just me being too young, but I never fully grasped that God was a person, the perfect person, and just how... well, how cool He was. ;)
It must have hit me... well, I remember it most accurately as sometime before Year 9 began. God just opened my eyes and just pulled me back on the right path, gave my head a real good Spring cleanout. I thought things through a lot differently before God did that than after, and I realise now that all I was doing was blindly following the world's ways, seeking the 'approval of men', as the Bible puts it. But now I've come to understand... well, a lot more than I used to! If you have more questions, rock up and ask. I'd be more than willing to answer as best I can. :)

Name: Charmian Tam
Grade: 11
Interests: Swimming, b'ball, shopping, chatting on phone with friends, listening to music, bumming around in general. =)
Testimony: In this school, we are so concerned with academic achievements - with the importance of good marks, high UAI (Ed's note: those ghastly three letters... aaargh), good career... all being constantly hammered into our heads. Sometimes we forget that the gift of salvation from God is the thing we should most be thankful for! Maybe sometimes we should just leave the academic things done for a while, and just talk, pray to God. Just live our lives as God's children and be joyful, content in general. In praise of God, luv always, Charmian.
